Counter-Strike Global Offensive Danger Zone Review | Gammick

Maps

The mundane look and map design don’t help alleviate such frustrations. Instead, they reinforce how Danger Zone feels second-rate. The Blacksite starter map has a notable lack of style or unique identity, both in the context of Counter-Strike and in the broader realm of action games.

It has some specific sections distinct by theme, such as a warehouse area and a ruined military base. But all of the settings are rendered in a boring, almost realistic aesthetic that has permeated first-person shooters for years.

Added in April 2019, the second Scirocco map is certainly more interesting in its mix of desert plains and large fortress refuges. But the downside is that players have to traverse a lot of empty space to get to the heart of the battle.
