By the fans, for the fans

Kakarot is kind of a double-edged sword because it’s clearly made by the fans, for the fans. Every mission, side mission, and fight is filled with Easter eggs and cool references to the show. If you are already a fan of the franchise, then you will appreciate this top-notch fan service.

And non-fans? There’s still a lot to enjoy between gorgeous graphics, fun exploration, and intense combat. But the general confusion about who is who and what can be quite distracting for anyone who doesn’t already know who “Kakarot” is before playing.

Final verdict

What is the final verdict? If you are a big Dragon Ball Z fan, you should buy this game. Heck, probably you already bought the game!

If you’re not a huge fan, though, this particular title is worth passing on. There are better fighters and better RPGs for your time and money. Unless you love DBZ packaging, you’ll soon find this game is all about style and no substance.
