Game

The game itself works along the lines of most standard fantasy MMOs. Ultimately you are tasked with fending off an external threat, the Galrean Empire. When it comes to actual gameplay, what you usually do is several recovery missions and your standard range of raids. Collect materials to make better equipment or sell out for profit.

Where the game excels is its ability to weave a story in an open world where you could really go it alone and not pay attention to the main mission at all. Like many classic fantasy games, there are intermediate cutscenes at key points. These act as both a story guide and a time marker for where you are in the main storyline. It’s easy to forget the opposite as you commit to looting the dungeons and going on FATE missions.

FATE missions, or Full Active Time Events, allow you to team up with many players without having to wait hours to find an empty space in a raid group. These large-scale events spawn in areas that are heavily frequented by players and are great for quickly leveling up. They are also a fantastic solution for people who want to join groups to destroy monsters without having to talk to anyone.

Like many high-fantasy games, this one is full of names you just need to memorize. The lore is rich, but it is a lot to swallow early in the game. The creator of the character also has complicated jargon. However, the wide variety of options makes it a little easier to swallow.

Classes

As in many MMOs, the class you choose when selecting your character determines the type of skill you have while playing. But A Realm Reborn offers a feature that few other MMOs offer: you can change your class at any time.

Most players have spent hours grinding and leveling a character only to get to a higher level and realize they made a mistake in their choice of class. Perhaps you are having a hard time finding raid groups on your server. Or maybe you just don’t like the style of play your class demands. A Realm Reborn gives you an option to solve it without the dreaded choice of having to start another character from the beginning.
