Missions
Story missions are a bit more of a mixed bag. In classic GTA style, they usually involve driving somewhere to meet up and cause damage to one of the secondary characters.
There are memorable moments to be found here. I smiled at the surreality of throwing crates of explosives from a moving train into the car following another member of Grove Street. And I always anticipated missions involving characters with great personalities like OG Loc or The Truth.
But there is a worldliness that fits in with the missions of history. This is especially true when you start to tire of a position.

Sandbox
Fortunately, the story missions are only a superficial representation of what San Andreas has to offer. Indeed, in many ways, the main course of the game is its secondary content.
Where to start? In San Andreas you can: form your gang, complete robberies around town, search for a variety of collectibles, run errands for people, put out fires, work out in the gym, shoot for a high score in the arcade, play basketball , etc.
This is a world Rockstar wants you to live in. The game is so rich in content, yet so well organized. Also, the level of chaos in San Andreas is determined by how much anarchy you want there to be.
The game also introduces character stats. I found these to be a great way to connect with CJ on a deeper mechanical level.
