Presentation
GreedFall’s locations are beautifully rendered. Each environment is unique and contains many details. The lighting system is particularly impressive, casting realistic shadows and reflections. But the same cannot be said of the characters themselves. They have some really awful animations, especially when it comes to facial animations. At times, NPCs appear to have been possessed as they try to show emotion on their faces.
On the other hand, the soundtrack is positive for GreedFall. It manages to convey a lot of atmosphere and provide a nice backdrop to the action. The vocal acting is solid too, while the sound design is varied and of high quality when it comes to effects. While players will likely experience one or two bugs, none of them break the game. There’s not much to complain about when it comes to performance either.
Final verdict
Ultimately, GreedFall doesn’t deliver on what it sets out to do. It is yet another Spiders game that has proved too ambitious. If anything, the developers have tried to do too much. Perhaps it would have been better to narrow their efforts and create a more focused experience.
True, GreedFall has some positives. There is a huge open world and many missions to get stuck in, for example. But these are too often overshadowed by other elements that just aren’t as good as they could have been.
