Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order Review | Gammick

Plenty of Easter eggs

It should go without saying, but this game is very rewarding for longtime Marvel fans. In fact, you will find fanservice almost everywhere during the adventure.

For example, Daredevil has a nice disposable joke about trying his best to fight in the halls. This references the epic one-shot action sequence in Netflix’s first season Reckless.

Dr. Octopus, meanwhile, will continue to refer to himself as “superior”. This is a reference to the Superior Spider-Man comic in which Doc Ock’s brain was inside Spider-Man’s body.

Heck, Psylocke, the X-Men resident Asian ninja, even speaks with a British accent. This refers to the decades-old comic body in which her mind was exchanged for another body. Strange? Obviously. But this provides further proof that Team Ninja has done their homework.

Final verdict

So what’s my final verdict? It’s not just for true Marvel believers. I actually recommend this game to anyone who loves fantastic action and a rewarding combat system.

You don’t have to be a Marvel zombie to appreciate the dynamic gameplay and attractive character design. At the same time, Marvel fans will likely want to play it multiple times to capture every awesome Easter egg and reference.

What are you waiting for? Put that comic down and get your Switch!
