Game

One of the major improvements to Monster Energy Supercross – The Official Videogame 3 is the way the bike sticks to the floor. Product of a new physical system, it definitely improves the control you have when running. There seems to be a little more weight on your vehicle. This helps get rid of those annoying moments in previous games where the bike may have seemed to float. It also feels like your wheels have that extra bit of grip, providing an extra dose of safety. With better handling, everything is more responsive so that the ride feels more natural.

When this game works well, there is a huge sense of satisfaction. It’s immensely fun to jump or whiz around the corner without losing any momentum. Where the title really excels is in almost letting you experience the speed and the bumps firsthand. The action can feel very real and exciting as you battle a dozen or more pilots.

Supercross is all about analyzing the terrain in front of you, with careful timing necessary to get into the rhythm. This game captures and replicates that essence perfectly. Yes, it’s hard to master, but the gameplay is, for the most part, rewarding and fair.

The most unique and eye-catching aspect, however, is the track editor. Again, little appears to have changed on the surface. However, there are some quality of life improvements and improvements under the hood. The benefit is that it is now easier to create your own tracks and share them with others. Thankfully, the tools are simple to use even with a controller, and it’s easy to get lost designing unique routes.
