Game

Just like many other games that are anime or manga adaptations, One-Punch Man is a fighter in the 3D arena. He thinks of games like the recent Jump Force for a general idea of how the core mechanics work. However, sticking to a familiar formula would mean this game would never stand out from the crowd. Finding a way to somehow incorporate Saitama’s amazing strength is also vital to making a faithful adaptation of One-Punch.
The answer to this problem is an interesting feature. During the fights, characters of the likes of Saitama will appear at random moments. Once they are in combat, they can easily take out any opponent with a single hit. The problem is to survive until it comes into action. This leaves the player a choice. Either go on the offensive and use combos to get Saitama to get there faster or play defensive and hope you can stay in combat until he shows up. The mechanics work well and add a nice dynamic to the battles.
The combat itself isn’t bad either. You can choose from a variety of fighting styles, such as standard melee and psychic attacks. These give you the ability to increase your offensive skills. Special combos allow you to generate giant weapons or hurl objects at your opponents using only your mind. These add an element of over the top fun that is great to try.
For a game that places so much emphasis on character creation, the customization options are sorely lacking. It is simply not possible to create a character that feels truly unique. Sure, there are a few other options that become available as you progress, but not enough. You are left with the option to create an individual that looks more like a standard model.
