Missions

Speaking of maps, the vast majority of levels are procedurally generated rather than handcrafted. Putting aside missions like the tutorial, most of the time is spent infiltrating random locations to gather resources.

A mission can fall into one of nine types, most of which consist of primary and secondary objectives. Thankfully, the turn-based stealth mechanic provides enough flexibility to facilitate roguelike maps, although the latter tends to cause occasional difficulty spikes.

The lack of handmade levels means that there are virtually no missions that deviate from the beaten path. However, the replayability offered by this design choice more than compensates for any shortcomings.

Skills

While Invisible, Inc. theoretically has infinite maps, there must still be a reason to keep revisiting the game. The storyline of the campaign may be quite restrictive, but the same cannot be said of the characters. Along with a unique move tailored to the operator’s specific class, each agent has four upgradeable skills that can be developed by investing credits.

While these skills are the same across the entire roster, focusing on a specific area results in a different style of play. Do you want to avoid combat completely? Focus on the skills of speed and anarchy. Do you prefer to take a more direct approach? Strength is the way to go. Finding the right balance is part of the fun. New campaigns automatically reset agent skills, so exploring various strategies will help.
