Final verdict
It’s worth noting that changes have been made to Star Conflict over the years and not all of them are popular. Several players accuse the game of switching to what has been mockingly dubbed a “pay to win”, or P2W, format. The charge is that it is nearly impossible to win in a large number of the game’s major battles without purchasing content. Obviously the goal of a free-to-play game is to make money via in-game purchases, but a combination of this is not the case at the start of the game’s release and accusations that items available for purchase are impossible. to compete against in a purely free mode has lost some players Star Conflict.
But the game remains completely free to play in the Steam store. There is no monthly subscription or purchase price for the game. There are in-game purchase options, but they’re not required to actually play the game itself despite P2W complaints. If you are someone who is busy grinding skirmishes and racking up your PVP scores, you may need to invest in some in-game purchases to take on battleships and other loot items. But if you’re content with flying into space and shooting baddies to let off steam, doing it for free isn’t the worst way to relieve stress.
