Game

Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood includes a rather unique hook as players can transform into different shapes. There is a wolf form to move quickly and nimbly, and a human form to interact with technology. The final form is the werewolf, which is used for the explosive combat sections.

But the game does little with this distinctive gameplay concept. Stealth sections are tedious and nearly impossible to complete, with so many enemies placed between you and your target. There are also very few reasons to use the wolf shape. Players are occasionally forced to become the animal to traverse through small crevices, but it all seems a bit wasted.

The actual combat is arguably the most satisfying thing about Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood. Transforming into a werewolf and rampaging against your opponents is chaotic fun.

Unfortunately, even the bombastic fight sequences can’t hold your attention for too long. Each battle soon begins to look the same as the rest. There is so little variety of enemies and abilities that the combat goes stale too quickly.

This is not helped by the fact that each environment looks identical to its predecessor. Boss battles also fall into the same trap of not being able to shake things up too much.

Extending this over the course of a dozen or so hours of the campaign loses all appeal. Ultimately, Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood doesn’t have enough to create a consistently fun and immersive experience for players.
