Presentation

Perhaps the worst thing about Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood, though, is its presentation. Many people who pick up this game may assume it is from a previous generation. The graphics look distinctly from the PlayStation 3 / Xbox 360 era. Nothing in the presentation screams that this is a game that was released for the Xbox Series X.

It’s not just the textures or the overall look of the graphics. All about Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood screams in low quality, including animations and unstable frame rate.

Things don’t get better when it comes to sound design either. Voice acting is pretty straightforward, giving you the impression that the actors didn’t believe the script. Some lines are given in a wholly enthusiastic way, giving the dialogue a feeling of absurdity. Yet, at other times, it seems that the voice actor is completely uninterested in what he is saying. Mix this with a poor metal soundtrack and you get a game that sounds as bad as it sounds.

Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood also suffers from its tiny game world. There is very little room for world exploration and construction because each area is an enclosed space. The game simply does not allow the player to find out about the world on his own.

This is a big deal. The game is trying to make you make an emotional connection with the planet and its inhabitants. But that ends up being largely impossible.

Final verdict

Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood definitely has some good ideas. It’s made up of some interesting concepts, like the premise behind the story and the distinctive game idea.

But he never fails to use these starting points as a way to build on the overall experience. The game eventually fails, with even the combat becoming too repetitive after a few hours.

This leads to a monotonous game devoid of true redeeming qualities. It’s particularly disappointing considering the rich source material it’s based on.
