Difficulty

That’s not to say Wolfenstein II is easy, though. In fact, the game boasts a pretty solid level of challenge. This is especially true on higher difficulties where enemies can decimate your health and armor in seconds. Fortunately, there are plenty of difficulty options to find, so you shouldn’t have a problem finding the perfect amount of challenge for yourself.

However, it can be a frustrating experience, as the game is unforgiving in many ways. But there are always ways to deal with any situation, as long as you try hard enough. This is largely due to the high quality level design, which gives you various options to take on any tough fight.

This is especially important in some sections which leave Blazkowicz with a lasting feel like wet paper. But once the storyline grants you the right tools to become a real pain center, you really feel like you’ve been granted a huge upgrade in your skills.

Final verdict

All in all, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is a solid entry to the Wolfenstein series, but it also serves as a positive sign of what things might look forward to in future games. The story is still interesting enough to get involved, despite some strange choices that may perhaps shock you a little from the dive.

Meanwhile, the gameplay is exciting, challenging, and expansive enough to accommodate experimentation. Therefore, fans of the series, as well as fans of shooters in general, should take a close look at this title at least once.
