Apple has been banned from selling Apple Watches in the US equipped with SpO2 (blood oxygen level) sensors following a patent dispute with medical technology company Masimo. Apple has appealed this order to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit to temporarily suspend the ban until U.S. Customs can determine whether the changes it is making to the Apple Watch would be sufficient to avoid the controversy and, much to Apple’s respite, the request was granted.
Following the ban, Apple pulled the Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2 from its online and offline stores, while third-party retailers were allowed to continue sales until supplies ran out. But now that the ban has been temporarily suspended, Apple can resume sales of its latest watches in its stores until the next hearing scheduled for January 12, 2024.

The suspension of the ban could be extended by the appeals court, allowing Apple to continue selling the latest watches for longer, or US Customs could rule against Apple, preventing the Cupertino-based tech giant from selling its smartwatches with SpO2 sensor. We’ll have to wait a couple of weeks to see how the situation unfolds for Apple.
