Apple today announced that it will hold its next event on Wednesday, September 7 on the company’s Apple Park campus. The event will begin at 10am PT and will be attended in person and will be live streamed on the company’s website and YouTube.

Being the September event, the focus would be on the new iPhone models. New this year is an iPhone 14 Plus / Max plus size with essentially the same size as the iPhone 14 Pro Max but with the feature set of the iPhone 14. This model will replace the iPhone mini in the range.

The new iPhones are also expected to get an updated display with the pill-shaped cutout replacing the current notch. Although the notch saw a reduction in size last year, it continues to be quite large and possibly the largest on any production phone today. The new pill-shaped design reduces visual bulk while retaining all the sensors needed for Face ID to work.

Also new for the iPhone this year would be an always-on display, although it should only be available on Pro models. The next-generation A16 processor is also rumored to be exclusive to Pro models, with the standard models retaining the ‘A14. The camera of the Pro models should also go up to 48 megapixels. Meanwhile, all models will receive a new front camera with autofocus.

Launching alongside the new iPhones would be the next generation of Apple Watch Series 8. It should be available in a standard and Pro variant, with the latter having a larger display, sturdy titanium body, and shatterproof glass. The Pro model is also rumored to have a body temperature sensor.

It is possible that Apple may also announce updated iPad Pro models, but they are likely to be announced during the October event along with any Mac updates.
