A report from The limit confirms that Google is beta testing support for digital ID cards in the Google Wallet app. Apple Wallet currently supports adding ID cards from three states including Maryland, Colorado, and Arizona.

An informant sent screenshots to The limit and shared the process of adding a new ID card to the Wallet. First scan the front of your ID > scan the back > take a short video of your face > send it to the state for approval (in this case, the state of Maryland). The whistleblower was able to add their ID using the latest beta update to Google Play Services.

Status ID support on Google Wallet has reportedly worked on new Google Pixel phones, as well as a Samsung Galaxy S20, though support between devices will likely vary (although a Pixel may offer more possibilities).
