Huawei introduced HarmonyOS Next to developers this summer as a future operating system for all Huawei devices. According to Richard Yu, HarmonyOS Next is almost ready to be released to end users and all native applications have been updated.

There is one major omission in the OS: Android apk support. HarmonyOS Next will not be able to install Android apps or read Android code.

HarmonyOS Next will not have support for Android apps

It appears that while HarmonyOS Next is visually identical to the current HarmonyOS, Huawei has dropped support for Android libraries.

It seems that Huawei is taking its internal operating system more seriously. According to sources from the Zhilian Recruitment platform, companies are busy recruiting talent for the development of HarmonyOS. Core positions include software development, mobile development, and software testing in the Internet, computer software, and telecommunications/value-added services industries.

Over 75% of positions require a bachelor’s degree and more than 3 years of work experience and offer an above-average salary.
