A schematic of vivo’s new X Flip folding clamshell has been revealed by tipsters Digital chat station. This is the first clamshell flip from the Chinese phone maker which is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. The X Flip is expected to hit the Chinese market in early 2023.
The X flip will feature a rectangular outer display and sits beneath a multi-camera cutout. A mockup illustration (apparently cropped from photos from other vivo renders) of the X Flip shows a quad-camera setup, triple LED flash, and Zeiss branding for the camera, though the latter two are yet to be confirmed. All we know from the alleged pattern is that the camera cutout will be round.

Vivo X Flip Mockup
We can speculate that perhaps there will be two or three cameras and an LED flash within the same circular cutout for the cameras. Also, the use of the Zeiss branding would be an attractive choice in vivo, as competitors’ clamshell foldouts typically don’t excel at photography as well as their flagship counterparts.
We don’t know much more about the mysterious folding clamshell. Earlier today, the same tipster revealed the piece about the X Flip equipping a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, but that’s what was revealed.
