Huawei released the FreeBuds 5i in China in June and is now finally launching the TWS earbuds in more markets. They are now available internationally for just under £90/€100.
The Huawei FreeBuds 5i offers a huge upgrade over the FreeBuds 4i with longer battery life, improved audio and ANC, and a lighter body while maintaining an attractive design.

The FreeBuds 5i case now has a softer, pebble-like texture and weighs 34 grams, with each bud weighing just 4.6 grams. Despite the 18% lighter body than the 4i, the battery capacity has increased dramatically to 410mAh.
Noise canceling is said to reduce noise by 42dB, a couple of decibels more than the FreeBuds Pro and nearly double that of the 4i. Once again, Huawei has introduced an AI-based system that learns where your voice is coming from and isolates it for calls in a noisy environment.

Huawei has already sent us a pair of FreeBuds 5i in Blue and our tests are ongoing. The earphones come with a 10-hour playtime on a single charge, which means we’ll need time to confirm the numbers in different scenarios with all three noise-cancelling modes.
