The iPhone 15 series is expected to arrive next month, potentially on September 12th or 13th. As far as we know, only the Pro models (iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max) will use the new Apple A17 Bionic chipset, while the non-Pro models will continue to rely on the A16. As per an earlier suggestion, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max would apparently still have 6GB of RAM. Potentially of the faster LPDDR5 variety, supplied by Micron or Samsung, but still 6GB.
Update:
It appears that both the 8GB and 6GB RAM configurations for the A17 were in testing at one point, it’s currently unclear why or which one was chosen as final – it could depend on storage space.
They are labeled as follows:
POP, COLL + 6G
POP, COLL + 8G

The iPhone has been stuck with 6GB of RAM since the iPhone 12 Pro. But that proved to be enough, thanks to end-to-end vertical and horizontal optimization. According to a new tip from the same user X (ex-Twitter) @URedditor, there may still be a chance to see 8GB on an iPhone this year. Supposedly, the new A17 Bionic was tested with both 6GB and 8GB of RAM, in both the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models. The source isn’t sure what RAM size was finally selected, but the speculation here is that perhaps the higher storage tiers of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max could come with 8GB of RAM and potentially a slight performance boost.
This is purely speculation at this point, and Apple’s track record suggests an identical amount of RAM at least in the Pro range as the more likely approach. That said, tying amounts of memory and storage together has been standard practice in the Android realm for some time now, so it might not be entirely ridiculous to consider that Apple is doing the same.

Since this is in the air, we want to hear your thoughts. Will there be different RAM variants on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max? Will these be tied to higher tiers of storage? Could they potentially lead to a snappier iOS experience? Maybe longer iOS update support in the future? All valid topics for discussion.
