Samsung holds the lion’s share of display orders for the current iPhone series: the company reportedly produces 70% of the panels for both the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus (which use regular OLEDs) as well as the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max (using LTPO OLEDs). Meanwhile, rival BOE is only making 6.1-inch panels for the vanilla iPhone 14 and got the smallest part of the order.
The balance of power will start shifting towards the BOE this year, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. BOE reportedly beat Samsung to secure the largest order for iPhone 15 and 15 Plus displays, expected to produce around 70% of the total (with the remaining 30% going to Samsung).

Next year, we will focus on LTPO panels for iPhone Pro. Samsung and LG will continue to supply panels for premium models, but Kuo thinks BOE can get 20-30% of orders. If that happens, and if it maintains its 70% share of standard iPhone display orders, BOE will become the largest iPhone display supplier in the second half of 2024.
BOE is expected to see strong shipment growth over the next two years. The analyst expects BOE’s profits to grow, driven by additional orders for medium- and large-size OLED and mini-LED displays for Apple, along with cheaper foldable displays for Android.
