Apple’s suppliers are expecting increased demand for the iPhone 14 series in China, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reports. Kuo offers a potential explanation: Apple is making the most of Huawei’s forced exit from the 5G market. This left Apple as the dominant player in the high-end market in China with little competition.

The vanilla-colored iPhone 13 was the best-selling individual model in China in January, as well as in October and December. It alone sold 2.3 million units of Apple’s total of 5.1 million for the month, and the iPhone 13 series overall was fairly successful, more successful than previous iterations, which would make demand stronger for l ‘iPhone 14 even more impressive.

China has no shortage of native brands offering premium 5G phones, including Honor, which has taken control of Huawei’s old market positions. However, it appears that none of the local (or overseas) companies have managed to position themselves as the leading premium brand in the way that Huawei has done in the past and Apple is doing now.
