TSMC has released its roadmap, and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo noted that the Taiwanese company will stick to 5nm process technology this year.
This indicates that the new A16 Bionic chip for this year’s iPhones will be produced in the same fabulous process as the A15, with minor improvements.

It aligns well with rumors that the vanilla iPhone 14 will use the A15 chip, without the slight efficiency gains expected for the A16, reserved for the Pro series.
The analyst also said that the next-generation MacBook Air will stick to the M1 chip as the M2 successor won’t be available until next year. However, Apple could provide a similar SoC and give it a new name for marketing purposes, which is not uncommon in the world of mobile technology (Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, cough, cough).
