The Motorola Edge 50 has reached our office and we are about to put it through our review course. Our unit has a vegan suede back called “Koala Grey,” though it’s also available in the Peach Fuzz version of the Pantone 2024 color.

The Edge 50 is quite impressive with its lightweight feel. The back panel has nothing to do with the furry touch of natural suede; it’s closer to the thick, buttery feel of synthetic microfiber material.

Motorola also provides a protective case in the retail package, which hides the color and provides a more familiar feel when holding it. It also only clips onto the top and bottom, allowing you to constantly feel how slim and sleek the device is.

The retail packaging is recyclable and extremely eco-friendly. Unfortunately this also means that Motorola hasn’t provided an adapter – there’s only a USB-C to USB-C cable. The Edge 50 supports 68W charging, and while some markets may have a charger, most are getting the slim box.

The box also contains stickers highlighting the IP68 rating, Grade B repairability, and Grade A durability, courtesy of Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The Edge 50 has the same cameras as the Edge 50 Neo. However, we expect the images to turn out slightly different due to the Qualcomm chipset, which should provide faster processing speeds. The battery is also much larger, and the 5,000 mAh capacity should result in longer life in our Battery Life Test 2.0.

The full overhaul is already underway. Once we are ready with all the tests, it will come to our home page. Stay tuned!
