Netflix is currently cracking down on multiple families sharing their passwords on a single account, but only in some markets. Following its latest financial report which showed a decrease in paying subscribers and posted the share rise of around 35%, the company pledged to pursue all of its subscribers who did. And there is no shortage of those, to tell the truth.

According to Netflix, around 100 million families share passwords. All of these are a missed opportunity, and the company claims this is the main cause of the decline in paid subscribers this quarter. According to his estimates, around 200,000 users have left the platform or decided to join one of the password sharing accounts.
Of course, password sharing practices exist on a spectrum. Some use passwords for occasional viewing while others watch Netflix on a daily basis. That’s why some accounts won’t be monetized, but the streaming service will definitely try to crack down on those that systematically violate its terms of service.
The platform has been predicted to lose around 2 million paying subscribers in the next quarter, but subscriber growth will resume in the second half of 2022.
