Earlier this month leakster Digital chat station has reported that OnePlus is working on a Dimensity-powered Ace 2 as a cheaper alternative to the OnePlus Ace 2 which uses a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. OnePlus China president Li Jie has apparently confirmed this by posting a teaser image featuring two cards from play.

A OnePlus executive is teasing a new version of the Ace 2
The new version is expected to use the Dimension 9000 chipset. DCS extension it also suggests that OnePlus will replace the 50MP (IMX890) camera with a 64MP (OV64M) sensor.
However, there may be more differences, judging by the recent certifications released for a OnePlus PHP110 – presumably the Dimensity-based Ace 2 in question. This was only certified at just 80W charging, down from the 100W supported by the Snapdragon model.

This makes sense if this is indeed a low cost version. For reference, the Ace 2 with 8+ Gen 1 chip starts at 2,800 CNY. After the first sale of this model, Li Jie called the demand “unprecedented”.

We should have a better idea of when the OnePlus Ace 2 Dimension Edition will hit China as teasers mount (assuming Li Jie isn’t just teasing us, of course). Will there also be OnePlus 11R Dimension Edition? The similarities between the Ace 2 and 11R are no secret, so it’s possible, but we haven’t seen anything concrete yet.
