Introduction and specifications
The Reno8 series has been available in China for nearly two months now, but this is the first time the Reno8 and Reno8 Pro have left their home country. The global versions of the phones are slightly different from their Chinese counterparts, although the changes are rather negligible.

The centerpiece of this review would be the vanilla Reno8, and it replaces the depth sensor on the Chinese version with a full-fledged 8MP ultrawide camera, to be exact. The rest of the specs are virtually identical.
The phone features a bright 6.43-inch 90Hz OLED panel, which would most likely appeal to users looking for something more compact because, let’s face it, 6.43 “in 2022 is in the smaller size range. Being small. does not mean being small in functionality The Reno8 runs on a powerful Dimenstiy 1300 SoC and has two stunning cameras.

Oppo is particularly proud to use Sony’s 50MP IMX766 sensor as its main lens, which is quite large – 1 / 1.56 “and offers 1.0µm pixels. At the front, the Reno8 is equipped with an IMX709 sensor. 32 MP exclusive to Oppo with an RGBW filter that allows for improved selfie performance. After all, this is one of the strongest points of the phone. It is important to note, however, that the Reno8 Pro has the exact same camera setup, so if the camera performance is your top priority, the Reno8 probably would while being significantly cheaper than the Pro.

The vanilla option also doesn’t skip the blazingly fast refill. The same 4,500mAh battery supports Oppo’s 80W SuperVOOC charging protocol, although countries with 110V power grids can only get 66W from the same brick.
It is probably worth noting that the Oppo Reno8 is almost identical to the OnePlus Nord 2T. The main difference between the two is the design and the operating system. OnePlus’ OxygenOS is still a bit cleaner than Oppo’s ColorOS, so it heavily depends on your personal preferences towards Android skins.
So, in a way, this review can be used as a reference when looking for information relevant to the OnePlus Nord 2T. Most, if not all, of our test results would be applicable to some degree.
Unboxing of the Oppo Reno8
The Oppo Reno8 ships in a standard box containing all normal user manuals along with the corresponding 80W SuperVOOC charger and a USB-A to USB-C cable.

Oppo has included an extra case for the phone, which is transparent, so it doesn’t hide the overall design. And it’s a great option until you find a case that fits you best.
