Judging by the data on Google Chrome’s massive usage (3.83 billion monthly active users worldwide and 68-69% share on mobile, 89% on Android), chances are you’re using the browser in some form. The Samsung Browser (formerly known as Samsung Internet Browser) is one of the most popular alternatives. It comes pre-installed on all Galaxy devices and can also be downloaded for free by anyone else from the Google Play Store. It’s very powerful, with lots of customization and some nice extra features like extension support.

Samsung Browser will get multitasking, AI and more with One UI 9

According to reports, Samsung Browser will soon offer a multi-window and split-screen browsing experience. It will arrive with One UI 9, but it probably won’t be tied specifically to the Samsung skin since Android’s Chrome browser already has the same functionality. It lets you open a couple of windows at once and monitor two active websites instead of having to go back and forth between tabs. You can actually see Samsung’s multi-window feature in action in the following screenshot courtesy of Android Authority. Apparently, on larger-screen devices like the Z Fold 7, you can even have three Samsung browser windows active at the same time.

Then there’s the Ask AI feature. This may actually be tied more deeply to the underlying operating system and require a Samsung phone, since Perplexity reportedly powers it and appears to behave more like a system-level bit than an internal browser bit. How do we know this? Well, we’re speculating, of course, but based on a short Ask AI video that our colleagues at SammyGutu actually managed to make work. The concept is pretty simple: AI reads what you’re browsing and digests it to offer answers and suggestions. However, it is not just a visual analysis of the words on the screen. Instead, artificial intelligence is built in and pulls data directly from the browser. This also includes your browsing history and potentially even some personal information. We’re interested to know how Samsung handles this obstacle, but the video shows a switch for how long to keep activity data.

Finally, the more mysterious “Enable cross-device recovery” option was also discovered in a leaked upcoming version of Samsung Browser. So far it seems like it doesn’t do anything, but it looks like it could instantly transfer to a browsing window or even an entire session between devices? At least that’s our opinion, but how would it differ from the current “Continue on another device”?

The launch of the One UI 9 Beta program is scheduled for May, first on the Galaxy S26 generation and then on the S25 line. The new version of Samsung’s popular skin should be ready in time to ship with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 this summer.
