Samsung is preparing to launch a Galaxy M55 smartphone with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset. This was revealed on Geekbench, where the SM-M556B was benchmarked. The device also appeared with 8GB of RAM and Android 14, likely with One UI 6 on top.

Samsung Galaxy M55 appears on Geekbench with Snapdragon 7 Gen 1

The smartphone was tested on an old Geekbench version 4.2, which is so old that even our test database does not include any relevant results. This means that the 3,575 single-core and 11,330 multi-core scores can’t be compared to other smartphones, and we have no idea how it would stack up against the competition.

Fortunately, we can make another comparison of raw CPU performance. The predecessor Galaxy M54 was announced with Exynos 1380, while the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 is present in the Honor 90 and Xiaomi 13 Lite phones. Our data shows that from a processor perspective, performance won’t be a huge improvement, but switching to a Qualcomm SoC could increase the Galaxy M55’s battery life.

However, these synthetic benchmarks are only the outline of the entire landscape. We have to wait until Samsung actually launches the Galaxy M55 to see how it would fare against the competition.
