The Galaxy S23 series offers updated video capture features, including support for 8K at 30fps (previous models exceeded 24fps). There’s more – according to leakster Ice universethe Galaxy S23 Ultra will have an improved portrait video mode.

The resolution cap is reportedly rising to 4K at 30fps, while the current S22 Ultra only records 1080p/30fps video in portrait mode. Also, the separation between subject and background will be better.

It’s unclear whether these improvements will be available on the other two Galaxy S23 models. They all have the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset for Galaxy, but the Ultra is the only one with the new ISOCELL HP2 200MP sensor. The S22 and S22+ will use 50MP sensors instead.

However, The Cat also writes that the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s thermals are “relatively good,” which should mean the new flagship doesn’t get very hot when shooting in these more demanding video modes. The S23 series will be officially unveiled in a couple of weeks on February 1st.
