Time and time again, someone urges Apple to embrace RCS and implement it in iMessage so that the green and blue bubble split ends. The latest effort comes in the form of a 30-second clip from Samsung.

It’s a game about an Android phone chatting with an iPhone, discussing Apple’s stubbornness in supporting RCS in iMessage.

Google developed RCS as a universal standard to replace SMS (and eliminate the need to involve an operator). Since then Android as a whole has been trying to convince Apple to allow RCS in iMessage. But of course that would mean Apple forgoes a major hurdle for iPhone users coming to Android: iMessage is exclusive to iPhone. As you would expect, Apple is not inclined to settle.

At this point we would probably need some sort of EU-like regulatory rule that would make USB-C mandatory for Apple to adopt RCS.
