Reports from people familiar with the DRAM market say Samsung is accepting the latest orders for LPDDR4 and LPDDR4X memory chips. Production will likely continue through 2026 to fulfill all orders.

Samsung will retire the old LPDDR4 RAM and switch to producing LPDDR5 only

Once the LPDDR4 and LPDDR4X modules are phased out, Samsung will convert existing production lines to LPDDR5 production in the first quarter of 2027. It’s no surprise that Samsung is shifting its efforts to the next generation of DRAM, given the memory semiconductor supercycle that is upon us. This will give Samsung more revenue next year as DRAM prices continue to rise.

The final consumer also wins. Once Samsung stops making LPDDR4 chips, it will start using 50% faster LPDDR5 memory for its low- and mid-range devices as well.
