Qualcomm is expected to announce its Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ soon and the launch could only happen next week according to the Chinese tipster Digital chat station. Despite previous claims that the chipset could be postponed until the second half of this year, we now get a contradictory statement that the launch will take place next Friday – May 20. In addition to the flagship chipset, Qualcomm is expected to launch its first generation Snapdragon 7 Chipset.

If these rumors hold up, we can expect a flurry of announcements from smartphone makers confirming new devices with the latest Qualcomm chipsets. The new SD 8 Gen 1+ (codenamed SM8475) is expected to come from TSMC unlike the current SD 8 Gen 1 which comes from Samsung.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ is rumored to launch next week

The main difference between the two chipsets should be in the GPU department, where the new chip is expected to get a performance boost. The CPU is expected to remain unchanged from the SD 8 Gen 1 with a 3 GHz Cortex-X2, three Cortex-A710 high-performance drives, and four Cortex-A510 cores for efficiency. Motorola is expected to be one of the first manufacturers to use the new chip in its Edge X30 phone.
