The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 could be the best new chipset in the kingdom of Android, but Qualcomm is also being settled on the PC side with its Chips in Serie X Elite. Snapdragon X2 Elite and X2 Elite Extreme are the latest chipsets for windows on the arm machines and bring considerable earnings in performance and efficiency on first generation Snapdragon X models.

The new X2 series consists of three chips-the Elite X2 (X2E-80-100) with a 12-core CPU, the Elite X2 (X2E-88-100) with an 18-core CPU and the Extreme Elite X2 (X2E-96-100), which also shows off 18 CPU Core. All three new chips are made in the 3 Nm TSMC process.

Qualcomm states that X2 Elite Extreme is built for Windows 11 Ultra-Premium PCs that face “workloads in terms of experts”, while the regular X2 elite is for premium PC on “high-intensity resource workloads”. Qualcomm also affirms the “battery life of several days” for its new chips.
All three members X2 Elite present the third generation Qualcomm Oryon CPUs, just like the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, but with a maximum of 18 CPU cores on the Extreme X2 Extreme.

The X2 basic elite chip obtains 6x core CPU for 3.4 GHz clock performance and 6x cores at 4.0 GHz which increase up to 4.7 Ghz. The 18 -core version of X2 Elite has 12 first and 6 performance core cores, divided with the same maximum clock speeds.
The X2 Extreme Extreme obtains a faster 4.4 GHz clock speed on the main nuclei, which increase up to 5.0 GHz and up to 3.6 GHz on the core side of performance.

Qualcomm is claiming CPU performance at 31% faster in Potenza ISO and 43% less power than the previous generation of elite chip X.
The X2 Elite chips have an updated Adreno GPU, which says Qualcomm will offer an increase of 2.3x of Watt performance and energy efficiency compared to first generation Snapdragon X olive chips. Also get the DirectX 12.2 Ultimate, Vulkan 1.4 and OpenCL 3.0 support.

The new chips get the latest Qualcomm Hexagon NPU with 80 Ai processing top, which says Qualcomm is the fastest NPU in the world for laptops. All three X2 elite chips support LPDDR5X RAM, the UFS 4.0 storage and the Qualcomm Snapdragon Guardian technology for remote manageability.
The first laptops with X2 elite chips should be launched in the spring of 2026.
