Sony’s Xperia 10 range entered its fourth generation with the aptly named Xperia 10 IV (mark four). At first glance not much has changed visually, but just like the more premium Xperia 1 IV, the Xperia 10 IV brings some noticeable changes under the hood.
The OLED display still measures 6 inches with the characteristic 21: 9 aspect ratio and packs an FHD + resolution although it is now a brighter Triluminous panel that Sony claims is 50% brighter than its predecessor. The refresh rate is still stuck at 60Hz, but Sony now uses Gorilla Glass Victus protection.

Sony Xperia 10 IV
Sony has made the 10 IV a little shorter at 154mm and a little narrower at 67mm, while also decreasing the weight of the phone. At 161 grams, Sony advertises it as the lightest 5G phone with a 5,000mAh battery on the market.
There isn’t a charger in the box this year for environmental reasons, so you’ll have to make do with your own wall brick. If you have to buy one separately, keep in mind that charging speeds still exceed 30W.
The other big difference this year is the chipset: Qualcomm’s 6nm Snapdragon 695 5G. It replaces the 8nm SD690 of the Xperia 10 III.
The camera setup has been carried over from last year’s model with a 12MPm main cam, an 8MP ultrawide unit, and an 8MP 2x telephoto lens. The main shooter now boasts OIS, and Sony has also added a host of new features including an optimized Superior Auto mode, Auto HDR, a dedicated night mode, and AI-based facial sharpening for selfies on the 8MP front snapper. One notable omission is the lack of 4K video recording, which is caused by the inexplicable limitation of the chipset.

The Xperia 10 IV boasts two front speakers and retains the 3.5mm headphone jack. Sony also offers LDAC support, 360 Audio and a 360 Reality Audio Upmix feature that can transform stereo into surround sound. The phone is IP68 rated and starts Android 12 right away.
Sony Xperia 10 IV is available in black, white, mint and lavender colors. It retails for € 499 and will go on open sale from June.
