Samsung is said to introduce its first foldable smartphone with wider aspect ratio this year in response to the iPhone Fold arriving in September. Huawei has already unveiled its competitor in this arena, the Pura X Max.

The Samsung Galaxy Wide Fold is said to measure 123.9 x 164.4 x 4.3mm when unfolded and 123.9 x 82.2 x 9.8mm when folded. The cover display has an aspect ratio of 4.7:3 and the internal folding screen has an aspect ratio of 4:3 (remember CRT monitors and televisions?).

On the other hand, the Huawei Pura Therefore, the Galaxy Z Fold Wide is slightly smaller on two out of three axes. They have slightly different proportions, but not so much that it’s not obvious that they compete with each other, at least indirectly (given that Huawei is huge in China and not many other places, while Samsung’s market share in China is a blip on the radar).

The Galaxy Z Fold Wide is expected to be unveiled in July alongside the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8.
