While the Exynos 2400 trails the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in synthetic benchmark tests, even by just a little, the two chips appear to be neck and neck in real-world gaming scenarios. NL Tech tested the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra alongside the Exynos 2400-powered Galaxy S24+ with a number of popular Android games to see if there’s any difference.

The Exynos 2400 can keep up with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in real-world gaming

The results are nothing short of surprising. The two phones performed similarly in Genshin Impact, PUBG Mobile, Mobile Legends, and Fortnite. In Gehnshin the two chips maintained around 60 fps, in PUB Mobile with Smooth graphics settings the two maintained 90 fps, and in Fortnite the stable frame rate was around 90 fps, sometimes dropping to 70 fps during combat.

NL Tech observed a significant difference in only two games: Call of Duty: Mobile and War Thunder. During the former, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 maintained 120 fps throughout the game, while the Exynos 2400 was limited to 60 fps for some reason. On the other hand, the Exynos 2400 outperformed the Qualcomm solution in War Thunder by maintaining around 100 fps while the Snapdragon dropped to 40 fps. It’s important to note that War Thunder is a ray tracing-enabled game, so these results suggest that Exynos’ Xclipse 940 GPU is better at handling ray tracing graphics.

It’s important to keep a couple of things in mind here. Firstly, the tests were carried out on pre-production units, and secondly, these are two different phones. However, the Galaxy S24 Ultra should have a better cooling solution with a larger heatsink. Then again, there may be other factors at play here. It would be interesting to see an Exynos-powered Galaxy S24+ go up against its Snapdragon-powered counterpart.
