Nothing today released a significant update to the company’s Phone (2) smartphone. The update focuses primarily on camera improvements, with a few other quality-of-life changes introduced for good measure.

The first is the more general list of improvements made to all cameras:
- Improved the clarity of faces indoors
- Optimized highlight levels in low light environments
- Added a [sic] UI element to show when HDR is active
- Optimized highlight exposure when shooting in HDR
- Reduced dull tones when shooting in HDR
- Fixed halo effect in Portrait mode when shooting in HDR
Below is the list of specific improvements to the rear camera:
- Improved photo sharpness in 50 MP mode
- Optimized stability and contrast when recording video on the rear camera
- Improved photo quality in low light conditions
- Improved the contrast and Bokeh effect when shooting in Portrait mode
- Optimized the clarity of faces when shooting in Portrait mode
- Faster HDR processing speed
Next, the improvements to the front camera:
- Sharper photos
- Improved quality in low light environments
- Faster HDR processing speed
The update also adds some new features to the device:
- Feature that can close apps when the device reaches its temperature limit
- Improved the display of low battery when the device is turned off
- Added several icons for each of the Nothing audio products to the volume control
- Updated to Google’s July security patch
And finally, some general improvements and bug fixes:
- Reworked tactile feedback strength while typing
- Improved touch panel responsiveness under certain conditions
- Improved network reliability for more global operators
- Improved performance of some games when played in HDR
- Improved system stability
- Fixed issues with Dirac Audio
- Fixed an issue where Google Wallet didn’t work in cloned apps
- Fixed an issue that sometimes caused “double tap to wake” to become unresponsive
- Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the Bluetooth Quick Settings tile to become unresponsive
- Other general bug fixes
The update is now available on all Nothing Phone (2) units globally.

Nothing also announced that the Nothing OS 2.0 update for Nothing Phone (1) will be released next week.
