Today Samsung announced a very interesting new update for the Galaxy Buds2 Pro. This will be rolled out in the coming weeks and will bring improved ambient sound volume for the hard of hearing. The Ambient Sound feature will gain two additional levels, thus offering a total of five levels of amplification and “bringing the benefit of enhanced hearing to even more users,” according to the Korean company.

The effectiveness of the new Ambient Sound feature was demonstrated through a clinical study conducted by the University of Iowa Hearing Aid and Aging Research Laboratory. The research concluded that the Galaxy Buds2 Pro “significantly improved speech perception in those with mild to moderate hearing loss.” A similar study conducted by the Samsung Medical Center found that the Galaxy Buds2 Pro “could be an effective tool to help people with mild to moderate hearing loss communicate better in a quiet place,” says Samsung. Both of these tests were conducted using the new highest level for Ambient Sound, which is level 5.

With the new update, you can use different levels of ambient sound for the left and right earphones, so you can fine-tune the amount of amplification needed to suit your ears. You can also customize the tone range from soft to clear in five different stages. And through Adapt Ambient Sound you get automatic tuning for your ears.
