Xiaomi’s Mix Fold 3 is the latest new foldable launched in China and now we have a teardown video from Weki Home showing the challenging work done by Xiaomi engineers.

The whole process starts like any other teardown by removing the SIM card tray and prying up the backplate which reveals half of the device. The cover screen is also carefully removed exposing both sides of the back. Removing a few covers, screws, and flex cables reveals the Leica vertical-stack motherboard and quad camera system.

So let’s focus our attention on the dual battery cells with capacities of 2,580mAh and 2,200mAh respectively. They are incredibly thin measuring just 2.39mm and 2.88mm which helps maintain the slim profile of the device.

Then it’s time for the star of the show: the all-new proprietary hinge mechanism that boasts impressive craftsmanship and multiple color-coded water seals to help keep liquids out. The new hinge is thinner than its predecessor but weighs a little more at 23.4 grams.
