vivo launched the foldable X Fold smartphone in April and today the company announced that it will unveil the Plus model next week, on September 26th. The launch event will be held in China and will begin at 7pm local time.
vivo states that the “+” in X Fold + means “strong will evolve more strongly”. It’s unclear if vivo is hinting at durability improvements with the Plus model or if it’s a reference to something else.
vivo also shared an image revealing the design of the X Fold Plus. It looks similar to the vivo X Fold but will now also be available in red color. The regular model was available in black and blue.

vivo hasn’t detailed the X Fold Plus spec sheet yet, but we know that the X Fold + will be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC and will have a 4,730mAh battery with 80W and 50W wireless charging support. AnTuTu revealed that the X Fold + will have 12GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, and a 120Hz screen.
Aside from a new chip, larger battery, faster wired charging and a new color, the vivo X Fold + is expected to be identical to the X Fold. We may find out more live in the days leading up to the September 26 event.
