vivo X Fold2 and X Flip
The X Flip is vivo’s first attempt at a clamshell foldable and packs a large 3-inch display, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, and a 50MP main camera. Sadly, vivo hasn’t shared any details regarding a global release.
vivo X Fold2
The X Fold2 offers an 8.03-inch AMOLED E6 display with a resolution of 2160×1916px and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The panel offers a 4:3.55 aspect ratio and a new drop hinge system that is more lighter and stronger than the one used on last year’s X Fold and X Fold+.

You also get a 6.53-inch AMOLED coverage screen with 2520×1080px resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate and a more traditional 21:9 aspect ratio. Both panels feature ultrasonic fingerprint scanners and 16MP front-facing cameras housed in punch-hole cutouts. In terms of dimensions, the X Fold2 is 1.5 mm thinner than its predecessor in folded form and more than 30 grams lighter.

The X Fold2 incorporates a triple rear camera setup with a 50MP IMX866V main unit with OIS and Zeiss T* coating on the lens, a 12MP ultrawide and a 12MP 2x vertical lens that also offers up to 20x digital zoom . The camera system is supported by vivo’s self-developed V2 image chip which promotes improved HDR in photos and videos and better noise reduction. The X Fold2 can record video up to 8K at 30fps and has a Zeiss Cinematic mode.

The foldable launches Android 13 with OriginOS 3 on top, which features several improvements for the big screen. These include a taskbar for easy multitasking, a PC remote control function, and an adaptable UI in some apps when leaning the hinge at an angle. Keeping things going is a 4,800mAh battery with 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

The vivo X Fold2 is available in two finishes: a 12/256GB version priced at CNY 8,999 ($1,308) and a 12/512GB version for CNY 9,999 ($1,453).
I live X Flip
The X Flip is vivo’s first foldable clamshell phone and offers a large 3-inch AMOLED display that can be used for virtually everything from texting to navigating maps and using social media apps. vivo is actively working with app developers to optimize their apps for cover display so that users can complete most tasks without opening the internal screen.

The main screen is a 6.74-inch LTPO AMOLED with FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. It also features a waterdrop hinge mechanism that should address the infamous crease seen on most folding screens. The X Flip offers a 32MP front camera and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

There is a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset at the helm aided by 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. The camera department features the same 50MP Sony IMX866V sensor with OIS as the X Fold2 along with a 12MP ultrawide module.

You can place your phone on a table and adjust the hinge to the desired position for hands-free selfies. You can also use the 50MP main camera for even better detail. There’s a 4,400mAh battery with 44W fast charging here and Android 13-based Origin OS3 on the software side.
