introduction
Another year, another vivo flagship with an impressive camera setup, a first-class display and a high-end alternative chipset: the X100 Pro has just gone global. Featuring a trio of 50MP cameras, a screen with advertised peak brightness of 3000 nits, and a fully big-core Dimensity SoC, the latest and greatest in the company’s X series certainly looks exciting, and we’ve got the review for you.

The camera system features a 1-inch sensor that vivo lists as 1/0.98″. A periscope telephoto lens optically brings the zoom level to 4.3x, while an ultrawide with autofocus rounds out the opposite end of the competent triple configuration.
The display retains the 6.78-inch diagonal of the previous generation, and the resolution also remains unchanged, but vivo boasts a peak brightness of up to 3000 nits – we’ll see about that.
The other big problem is the Dimensity 9300 chip, where small cores are now also big cores, and the largest large cores are four times more numerous than you’ll find in the latest Snapdragon. It may not be four times more powerful, that’s for sure, but how does it really compare?
Another notable upgrade this time is the increase in battery capacity: the X100 Pro comes with a 5,400 mAh powerpack in a sea of 5,000 mAh or smaller competitors. Is it just to keep up with that beast of a Mediatek chip, or are we looking for longevity records?
Here’s a quick summary of the key specs before we start answering these pressing questions.

Unboxing of the vivo X100 Pro
The X100 Pro arrives in the usual flat, boxy box that we’re used to finding with vivo flagships. Inside there is also the usual set of accessories.

You get an adapter rated at 120W, though the phone itself is designed to support up to 100W charging. There’s also a USB-C cable to use.
A snap-on protective back cover is also included: black in the case of our black review unit, but we’ve seen clear ones scattered among other colorways across the internet.
