The first week of October is over and we have all the big news covered in our weekly recap.
OnePlus kicked things off on Monday with its Nord Watch. It includes a 1.78-inch AMOLED rectangular screen with a resolution of 368×448 px, a heart rate sensor, an SpO2 monitor and sleep monitoring. You get over 100 sports tracking modes and battery life is estimated up to 30 days with normal use. The price is set at INR4,999 ($ 60).
Xiaomi then announced its Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro along with the Redmi Pad tablet. The 12T Pro gets Qualcomm’s latest flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset along with a 200MP main camera (Samsung ISOCELL HP1) and a battery 5,000mAh with 120W charging. The standard Xiaomi 12T carries a Dimensity 8100 Ultra SoC along with a 108MP main camera and the same battery and charging speed as its Pro brother. 8/128 GB while the 12T Pro climbs to € 750 for the same RAM and storage.
Redmi Pad is a 10.6-inch Android 12 tablet with MediaTek’s Helio G99 chipset. The 1200 x 2000px resolution IPS LCD display sports a 90Hz refresh rate and 8MP selfie camera. The tablet offers four speakers, an 8,000mAh battery and an 18W charging. Pricing starts at € 279 / INR 12,999 for the 3 / 64GB version.
Oppo announced its A77s with a Snapdragon 680 chipset, a 90Hz screen, and a 50MP camera. Huawei nova 10 SE is equipped with a slim body, Snapdragon 680G and 66W of charging.
Infinix unveiled the Zero Ultra with a 200MP main camera (Samsung HP1 sensor), Dimensity 920 chipset and 4,500mAh battery with 180W Thunder Charge. Pricing starts at $ 520. Infinix Zero 20 has also seen the light of day pack a 60MP selfie cam, the Helio G99 chipset and the industry’s 108MP Samsung ISOCELL HM2 main sensor. The price is set at € 275.
Thursday belonged to Google and its Pixel 7 series. The new Pixel 7 and 7 Pro are refinements of last year’s Pixel 6 series with the big update being the new Tensor G2 chipset. The Pixel 7 Pro gets a new 48MP telephoto module with 5x optical magnification while the 12MP ultra-wide now gets autofocus and can also act as a macro cam.
The Pixel 7 gets a slightly smaller 6.3-inch AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, while the larger Pro has a 6.7-inch AMOLED LPTO upgrade to 120Hz. Both phones charge at 20W with the Pixel 7 having a 4,355mAh battery while the 7 Pro has a 5,000mAh cell. The little Pixel starts at $ 600 / € 650 while the 7 Pro costs $ 900 / € 900.
Pixel Watch was also announced on stage: Brings Fitbit sports tracking combined with Google’s WearOS in a sleek 41mm casing with a round 1.2 “AMOLED display. Track heart rate, SpO2 levels, sleep and stress along with all-day battery life for $ 350 / € 380 (Wi-Fi only) and $ 400 / € 430 for the LTE model.
Apple iPhone 14 Plus finally went on sale, nearly three weeks after its announcement. We saw the leaked case designs for the Samsung Galaxy S23 that showed the supposed design of the phones. It looks like Apple will be skipping its in-person event for its upcoming MacBook and iPad Pro models and will instead have an online launch right on its homepage.
