This week, Oppo launched Find N2 and N2 Flip. The Find N2 is an evolution of the Find N with a thinner and lighter body, a new hinge, a better camera system and a much better display among other things. The Find N2 has a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, a faster charging battery (67W) and a 120Hz screen coverage. The Find N2 will be available in China for now with no word on global availability.
What is going global is Oppo’s Find N2 Flip, which is a completely new device category for Oppo. It has a fairly large 3.62-inch coverage display (a 60Hz, 382 x 720px OLED panel) and a 6.8-inch 120Hz internal display, while the processing is handled by the Dimension 9000+. The camera configuration is a 50MP main module (same IMX890 1/1.56″ sensor) and an 8MP ultrawide unit (112°, IMX355). The MariSilicon X chip is integrated to handle the processing. The ‘Oppo Find N2 Flip is scheduled for a global release, full details will be made available later.
Xiaomi has announced MIUI 14, the latest Android 13-based operating system for Xiaomi devices. Xiaomi claims this is the most optimized and streamlined MIUI to date and it starts with Project Razor. The team behind MIUI 14 has updated the Android kernel-level system architecture with CPU, GPU, and memory resource scheduling, lighter system firmware size, and reduced memory usage. Xiaomi claims that MIUI 14 runs 60% smoother than its predecessor on the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro will be the first devices to launch with MIUI 14 on December 14. Xiaomi also shared its official update schedule for China which includes 11 devices in January and four more in April.
Motorola introduced the Moto X40 with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, 165Hz OLED display, IP68 water resistance, 4,600mAh battery with 125W charging and 15W wireless charging. The X40 features a 50MP (1/1.56”) with OIS and 1.0µm pixels. Next to the main cam is an ultra-wide angle lens (117°) with a 50MP sensor (1.3µm pixel). This one has autofocus, so it can shoot 2.5cm/1″ macro images. Also on board is a 2x portrait camera with a 12MP sensor (IMX663, 1.22µm pixel). For selfies , there is a 60MP selfie camera with a hole-punch in the center.The Motorola Moto X40 is in pre-order in China right now, shipping will start on December 22nd.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has been detailed through a TENAA listing. The phone measures 163.4 x 78.1 x 8.9mm and weighs 233g, the same size as the outgoing S22 Ultra. The battery is also the same at 5,000mAh. The cameras were not listed, so we have not had any confirmation on the alleged new 200MP sensor (1/1.3”, 0.6µm, default resolution 12MP). The main camera will reportedly finally make the leap to 8K video at 30fps (previous models stick to a cinematic 24fps).
The Samsung Unpacked event will take place in the first week of February, according to inside information, the launch is expected to take place a couple of weeks later in the end of February.
