Technically, this isn’t the first electric vehicle that Xiaomi has launched. That would be the Xiaomi M365 electric scooter. There is an “um, actually” done to throw at your friends. Seriously, last year the Chinese giant was heavily involved in the electric car market, pledging to invest 10 billion dollars over the next ten years.

In the latest development on this front, company founder Lei Jun is expected to unveil the first EV prototype in August. That car was designed by HVST Automobile Design, responsible for WM Motor’s Maven concept car. After the unveiling, the prototype is set for further road testing and we can potentially expect a PR campaign for Xiaomi cars to begin.
However, actual production cars still have some free time. The Xiaomi Auto manufacturing plant and R&D center will be built in Yizhuang, and the first real cars are expected to leave its production line in 2024.
You should go to ArenaEV.com – our sister site dedicated to electric cars to learn more about the Xiaomi auto plant and the upcoming lineup of four EV models.
