A new Nintendo Direct briefing on the Pokémon series will take place next month, according to an insider with a proven track record of corrected past leaks.
Twitter user @KeliosFR previously revealed a series of high-profile Pokémon announcements before Nintendo or Game Freak publicly talked about them publicly.
In a new tweet, the leaker suggests the Japanese company will host a Nintendo Direct in February. That month will mark the 25th anniversary of the franchise and will also include a celebration known as Pokémon Day on February 27 that commemorates the day the first game in the series was launched.
With both of these events taking place in February, it makes sense for a Pokémon-themed Nintendo Direct to take place. However, there is currently no information on what the briefing will include or what plans Nintendo has to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the franchise.
The company is likely to reveal special events for titles like Pokémon Go and Pokémon Sword and Shield along with possible announcements about upcoming games and DLCs.
One thing that has been confirmed is that pop star Katy Perry will star in a series of musical events throughout the month to celebrate the franchise’s anniversary.
