Katsuhiro Harada has confirmed that he is interested in working on a potential Pokkén sequel in the future.

The developer, best known for his work at Bandai Namco as a director and producer of the Tekken series, has previously worked on Pokkén Tournament. The Pokémon spin-off game sees players take control of various creatures from the series in action-packed battles.

The manufacturer confirmed on Twitter on Sunday that he would like to make a new Pokkén game. “We have a good relationship with Nintendo and Pokemon Co., Ltd. and POKKÉN has had a great response, so I would like to do it again,” he wrote. “But that’s not what we decide, it’s what they decide.”

The series first emerged in 2015 as a special arcade release in Japan. However, it has since been ported to both Wii U and Nintendo Switch, where it has enjoyed modest success.

Bandai Namco has partnered with Nintendo several times over the past few years. This includes the Pokkén series but also the Super Smash Bros. franchise along with the development of the new Pokémon Snap title due out next month.
