The next Splinter Cell VR game under development at Ubisoft will have some sort of multiplayer element, according to a recent job announcement.

The announcement for the staff role specifically mentions that Ubisoft is looking for a senior chief game designer who “will lead the Dusseldorf team to define and deliver the game’s multiplayer content.”

The job description says, “As the Project Owner for multiplayer, you define and implement the multiplayer vision shared by the Creative Director and Game Director. With your team, you define multiplayer systems and game modes for the game and you make sure that online technology is developed and available to make your choice a reality. “

This confirms that the Splinter Cell game will have some sort of multiplayer mode when it launches.

However, from the information available in the listing, it appears that any multiplayer element is still in the very early stages of development. This may be why Ubisoft hasn’t revealed any details about it so far. Fans can expect more information in the coming months.

Despite once being one of the company’s most popular and successful franchises, the Spliner Cell series has been inactive for nearly eight years. The latest entry launched in 2013 in the form of Splinter Cell: Blacklist. However, Ubisoft confirmed last year that it is working on a VR version based on the stealth game.
