It is a general rule that any modded game cannot connect to any accounts, be it Fb or google, because of the hacking itself, you can't hack and have still access as a normal account.

I actually think I saw someone reporting this bug to the devs in playstore reviews, and they responded to it, so perhaps today's update v1.12.1 will have it fixed, so we'll have to patiently wait for the modder to update the mod too.

Did you uninstall the official version? I didn't have any problem with the Mod asking for update yet.

It is known to crash a few times, try to restart the app (not the device) for 4-5 times and see if it works. Alterantively you can download Bluestacks or Nox Player (they are Android emulators) and play on your PC. I have it there too, works fine, I check into the app daily since I'm trying to...
